Amanda Jones | Biography

Amanda Jones was born in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England, and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1968. She currently lives in Richmond, B.C. with her husband and two daughters. Growing up in a seaside town she feels very much at home on the Westcoast. Amanda developed an early interest in art and experimented with oils. It was not until 1991, when she discovered watercolour that she decided to take her artwork seriously. After studying with several respected Canadian artists, she attained AFCA status with the Federation of Canadian Artists. Amanda now paints primarily in acrylics and watercolour. A landscape artist with a love of the Westcoast, Amanda comments that "my art has given me an increased awareness of the world around me, and I find myself noticing the beautiful rhythms, patterns and contrasts in my surroundings, I hope to convey this in my paintings."
